Things To Do

An Evening of Vintage and Handmade at Curia On the Drag

Curia on the Drag will be co-hosting an evening pop up market on the first Friday of every month this Fall. The markets are held from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m., and feature vintage clothing, accessories, and housewares, along with handmade goods, and a DJ for your shopping pleasure.

Curia on the Drag is more than just a local coffee shop. They also host a contemporary art gallery called Gallery Protocol, next door to their coffee shop, which houses about eight art exhibitions a year and provides free studio space for local artists.

When you visit, make sure to all check out “Curia Off the Drag,” a vegan kitchen located behind the coffee shop. Although “Curia Off the Drag” has been closed for the summer and has yet to reopen, their classic loaded tater tots made a comeback for the first pop up market this Fall.

The first pop up market of the Fall on Friday, September 7th at Curia on the Drag was cohosted with Gainesville Pop-Up Market, La Chua Vintage and Elestial Sound. At the market, vendors lined their tents up outside between the coffee shop and restaurant – with more vendors inside the gallery selling all things vintage, from clothing to furniture.

Judy Phillip’s, owner of Soleil Vintage Shop – one of the featured vendors at the evening market – is also one of the event coordinators. She has been putting together vintage markets since 2016.

“I just decided I wanted to do a vintage market because there wasn’t one in Gainesville, so a couple of years ago I started to put one together and got a lot of response. I found out there were a lot of people that sell vintage and handmade things so I decided to get the market going.”

The pop up market is fun for the whole family and you can even bring your dogs!
