Every year the Haile Village Center holds the event to bring the community together to drink hot chocolate, eat gingerbread cookies, and enjoy the Christmas lights.
While we were there enjoying the lights and saying hello to Santa, we got a little hungry and stopped by Fresco’s, a delicious Italian restaurant. You can’t go wrong with pizza, and you know we love pizza. We had their tasty Florentine pizza and Chicken Marsala. What made the meal even better was that we were lucky enough to score a table by the window where we enjoyed our food and watched Mickey, Minnie, and Despicable Me characters walk down the main road.
Around the corner we found an adorable bakery… for dogs. Sweet Paws Bakery is a dog treat bakery that also has a self-serve dog wash, a small boutique, and a doggie daycare. The owner makes the treats from scratch with no harmful preservatives. Her business is so successful she closes the place down on Sundays to restock the treats with the help of her mother.
But if you don’t have a dog, or a cat, you can adopt one down the street at Haile’s Angels Pet Boutique and Adoption Center. And if you’re not quite ready to adopt a new friend yet, they give you the opportunity to foster pets. The foster pet program gives the animals the tender love and care they need before you or another family adopt them.
Although we were there for the Light the Village event and something to eat, we know we will be back soon. On Saturday mornings, Haile Village hosts a local Farmers Market. The independent farmers market is owned and operated by local farmers and sells groceries, prepared foods, and handmade gifts. Visit their website for a detailed list of everything that’s in season before you go so you know what you will be bringing home with you.
But Haile Village Center has so much more to offer. There are dentist offices, a library, a church, a post office, dry cleaning, a barbershop, a nail salon, a spa and more.
The Village Center is a beautiful place to visit here in Gainesville and so inviting. So, stop by and check it out, especially with all the Christmas decorations in place. Tell Santa we sent you.
